2022 Ford Mustang Loss of Power Impacts GT and Mach 1

2022 Ford Mustang Loss of Power gnewscar.com- Ford has introduced several changes to the 2022 Mustang, such as a new Stealth Edition and the optional GT Performance Package for the California Special.

However, it looks like there’s more news on the way, and that’s not good. And this news will certainly be very unfortunate for Ford fanatics, especially lovers of the Mustang GT and Mach 1.

According to a report published by the Ford Authority, citing sources familiar with the car’s launch, a Mustang with an updated V8 engine will lose around 10 horsepower. Good grief!

As if that weren’t bad enough, the naturally aspirated 5.0L Ti-VCT engine will also lose 10 pound-feet (14 Newton-meters) of torque.

This decrease in output will have an impact on the performance of the Mustang GT and Mach 1, regardless of the transmission and body style.

It’s still unknown why the eight-cylinder engine will produce less power for the 2022 model year.

But the Ford Authority believes the Coyote’s engine is being tweaked to meet stricter emissions regulations.

That rumored power loss means the latest Mustang GT is expected to make 450 hp and 410 lb-ft (556 Nm) of torque.

While the Mach 1 had to settle for a power of 470 hp and a maximum torque of 410 lb-ft (556 Nm).

Sadly, for Europe, the Mustang GT will only have 453 hp (338 kW) and 390 lb-ft (529 Nm) of torque, while the Mach 1 will have 453 hp and 390 lb-ft (529 Nm) of torque.

Although the official Blue Oval website still features the face of the 2021 Mustang, later reports say Ford has opened the order book for the 2022 model year.

The model will reportedly start shipping to its customers in the first quarter of next year.

This could be the last model for the S550 generation as the seventh generation of the iconic sports car is expected to be coming for the 2023 model year.

Furthermore, Autoline Daily reported earlier in the year that Ford had made plans to start production of the electric Mustang in December 2028.

The era of electrification has indeed made many car manufacturers to present electric vehicles on the models they produce, including Ford.

Until now Ford has not provided any response to the report. We are waiting for the official explanation.
