Here’s What You Can do to Stop a Radiator Fan Keeps Running

Leaving the radiator fan on will certainly have a negative impact on the car. Here’s What You Can Do to Easily Stop The Radiator Fan From Running.

As a component in the car, of course the radiator fan will only turn on when the car is used. The goal is that the car does not overheat.

Then what if we experience the case of the radiator fan turning on when the engine is not running? The easiest way, of course, is to go to the workshop.

However, it’s good for us to know in advance the information about the effects of a radiator fan that keeps turning on and its causes.

Leaving the radiator fan on will certainly have a negative effect on the car. The battery becomes quickly overdrawn so that the car’s electrical system does not work perfectly.

Another effect is the engine so wasteful of fuel, plus a less pleasant pull. Quoted from Auto2000, there are four causes of the radiator fan constantly running:

Here’s What You Can do to Stop a Radiator Fan Keeps Running

1. Damage to Water Temperature Sensor

For those who are not familiar, the Water Temperature Sensor is often referred to as an ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor).

Damage to the Water Temperature Sensor that gives this effect usually occurs due to a short circuit or short circuit.

The resistance value of the Water Temperature Sensor remains 0 and electric current continues to flow to the ECU.

The ECU assesses this signal as a sign that the cooling water temperature is getting hot. Finally the ECU immediately activates the car’s radiator fan so that it continues to spin.

2. Faulty Refrigerant Pressure Sensor

The second cause is a malfunction of the Refrigerant Pressure Sensor. The malfunction makes the fan continue to run when the AC is also turned on.

Under normal conditions, when the air conditioner is not turned on, the fan rotation becomes normal following the condition of the engine cooling.

However, if there is damage to the Refrigerant Pressure Sensor, the ECU can order the radiator fan to continue rotating all the time.

3. Faulty Fan Control Unit

Fan Control Unit is a microcontroller to adjust the speed of rotation of the radiator fan according to the needs of the engine.

Although it cannot be denied that at this time, there are not many cars that use Fan Control Unit technology.

If your car still has this technology, you should be careful. Damage to this section is definitely the cause of the radiator fan running continuously.

4. Radiator Fan Relay Damage

The last cause of this problem is a faulty radiator fan relay. This component is an electric switch that works electromagnetically according to the input current in the coil.

Damage to the radiator fan relay will definitely make the radiator fan continue to run. Just like the first cause, the damage usually occurs due to a short circuit in the radiator fan relay.

It could be due to the age factor of old use or strange things happening in the circuit.

So now you understand what are the effects of a radiator fan running continuously and what causes it.

Do not let the condition of the car continue like that because it makes you uncomfortable driving.
